Intensive Neurological Physiotherapy
Our Neuro Rehabilitation Boot Camps are expertly designed by your Neurological Physiotherapist to kick start your neurological recovery. Treatment on any of our programmes may include task-specific training, Saebo technology, functional electrical stimulation, personalised exercises, mobile arm support (MAS), splinting, modified constraint induced movement therapy (mCIMT) or sensory rehabilitation.
By combining physical and behavioural approaches within our intensive neurological rehabilitation programmes, our Boot Camps promote rewiring in your brain, helping you to maximise your recovery and empower you to take control of your neuro rehabilitation.
Brain Changing Neuro Rehabilitation
We now know that the brain is not hardwired as was previously thought. Neuroplasticity describes the ability of the nervous system to respond to injury or training by reorganising its structure, function and connections.
During the first 3-6 months after a neurological injury there is a period of spontaneous recovery when the brain is more responsive to change. Although this period stagnates, it is now understood that further gains can be made, driven by appropriate practice from a neuro physio.
Some of the changes that take place in response to neuro physio are:
We still don’t know exactly what dose of training is needed, but it is clear that the volume of practice and the manner in which tasks are undertaken is important to drive change. Traditional, non-intensive neuro physio programmes are unfortunately often under-dosed.
